· During my 22 years of service as a member of the Board of County Supervisors, I have held the line on taxes and worked to reduce the tax burden for both business and residents.
· I have been a strong proponent of managed growth and enhancement and the strengthening of the local economy through quality economic development.
· I have fought for new and improved roads such as the Prince William Parkway, Minnieville Road, Cardinal Drive, Ridgefield Road, and the Horner Road Interchange/I-95 HOV lanes.
· I have helped create new mass transportation systems such as CommuteRide, the Virginia Railway Express and the intra-county bus system.
· I have been a strong supporter of new public safety initiatives including a motorcycle traffic squad, a program for 111 new police officers by the end of FY2004, new fire stations such as Dale City Station 18, a new station 20 being built on the Prince William Parkway near its intersection with Smoketown Road, and a new police and fire and rescue training facility.
· I have worked to secure new parks and recreational facilities such as the Dawson Neighborhood Park, Chinn Fitness Center, Andrew Leitch Waterworks, and new library facilities such as the Chinn Park Regional Library and the Bull Run Regional Library. I was a strong supporter of the 1998 Bond referendum which provided Neabsco residents with a new youth baseball field behind the Dale City Recreation Center and major improvements to playing fields at Cloverdale Park.
· I have been a strong supporter of increased educational funding for new schools such as Beville Middle School, Hylton High School and improved educational programs and facilities for our residents including creation of the new George Mason University Prince William Institute. We currently have our three High Schools under construction and two of them will be open it for the 2003 School Year.
